Cider Barn – Dillington Estate

The Cider Barn is a simple, rustic, but wonderfully charming venue. You find this old agricultural stone and thatched barn up a bumpy track through the woods. When you arrive, you’re surrounded by the fields and woods of the Dillington Estate and lost to the world – apart from the views across the rolling Somerset countryside – in your own rustic, magical and romantic haven. It is rented as it comes and ready for you to create the wedding you want – though we can also help by putting you in touch with local suppliers. There is some information below, but please contact us using the form below and we would be glad to discuss the venue, the options and how we can help. FACILITIESThe venue is unpretentious. The natural beauty of the barn with its old wooden beams, stone walls and exposed thatch, has been adorned only with fairy lighting and a couple of rope metal chandeliers, and the overgrown walled garden has been cleared of brambles and nettles to create a spacious and sunlit garden. It’s an understated venue where you can create your wedding without restrictions on who does the catering, who runs the bar, which wines are available, etc., and it works hand-in-hand with the beautiful accommodation on offer on the Estate to make a full weekend of your celebrations. CEREMONYWe can host weddings in the barn of up to 120 guests. If you’re a member of the Church of England, Whitelackington’s church of St. Mary’s is right next door and can also accommodate up to 140 guests. We would be happy to introduce you to the local vicar. RECEPTIONInside the barn the fairy lighting, exposed thatch and rope and metal chandeliers create a magically romantic space to hold your reception. The Cider Barn can seat 115 guests for dinner (or more with a bit of a squeeze, we had 140 at our own wedding), and with the barn and the walled garden outside, the venue has space for many more standing for drinks. We also have a stretch tent to roof part of the walled garden outside, which creates an extra covered area for guests in case it’s raining. CATERINGThe catering is an essential part of any wedding day, and to make sure you can arrange the day you want, we are happy to work with whichever caterer you choose, but we have relationships with a few local caterers and will happily introduce you so you can get quotes and a feel for their offerings. ACCOMMODATIONWe have some lovely holiday cottages across the Estate. They’re listed on our website, including the Dairy House (sleeps 15), Atherstone Farmhouse and Cottage (sleeps 14) and Orchard Cottage (sleeps 6-8). We can also recommend a list of other local places to stay on booking, or provide space for your guests to camp / glamp.
