About York House
York House is a picturesque 17th century building, with a fascinating history, set in beautiful public grounds on the banks of the River Thames. We provide a truly unique wedding venue for your special day, offering couples something old and something new.
We are licensed for ceremonies and can provide rooms for drinks and/or evening receptions. Unlike most other venues, we currently allow external caterers to cater for your day. This unique combination allows you to truly personalise your wedding and can help create the perfect setting for a memorable occasion.
With a variety of rooms available, you can hold a ceremony and/or your reception here at York House.
Below is an overview of the rooms available for hire at York House:
Clarendon Hall is a large room with a stage, licensed for up to 250 guests for a ceremony. This room can also be used for a sit down wedding breakfast for up to 150 guests on round tables.
Hyde Room can accommodate a ceremony for up to 70 guests. Alternatively, it can be used for a drinks and canapés reception following a ceremony or as additional space for seating/buffet/bar when booked in conjuction with the Clarendon Hall or Salon.
Salon is an ornate room at the front of the house with a beautiful chandelier. The room is licensed for ceremonies for up to 70 guests. The Salon can also be used for a sit down meal, which can accommodate up to 60 guests, or 80 guests for a drinks reception.
Winter Garden is a beautiful Victorian conservatory, overlooking the gardens and is licensed for up to 50 guests for a ceremony. The room can accommodate a small party of 40 people for a seated wedding breakfast or up to 70 for a drinks reception.
Terrace Room is a traditional room at the back of the house which overlooks the gardens and allows for direct access to the terrace leading onto the gardens. This is licensed for 40 seated guests and 10 standing for a ceremony or can accomodate up to 70 guests for a drinks reception.
