El Adobe de Capistrano is a banquet hall in the Orange County, California area. This California State Historical Landmark now welcomes couples and their guests for vintage garden weddings. The building, once a court and jailhouse, even has wine cellars and a dining space in the old jail cells. The Palenque Room is the most popular space for wedding receptions, and welcomes up to 250 seated guests. The room features an antique wooden bar and floor-to-ceiling windows. However, the highlight of this space is the ceiling that slides open to reveal the sky above. For ceremonies, the Garden welcomes up to 200 to its private and enchanting location, while the Chapel offers an indoor option for up to 300 attendees. Classic adobe architecture in the Portola Room includes stained-glass windows and a wooden vaulted ceiling. This intimate space is perfect for smaller receptions, bridal showers, engagement parties or rehearsal dinners of up to 46 guests. Similarly, the Las Flores Room, which overlooks the Garden, offers seating for up to 60 guests. In the original jail cell, complete with iron bars, couples can now enjoy an intimate dinner for eight. Some of these items include chairs, dance floor, lighting and tables.History This venue was originally two separate structures: the home of Miguel Yorba Adobe and the Juzgado, or court and jails. The former was built in 1797, while the later was not established until 1812. The cocktail lounge walls in El Adobe were once part of the Miguel Yorba Adobe. The ground beneath the foyer originally served as a passageway for stagecoaches, until it was repurposed for the Santa Fe Railroad in 1888. The two properties were unified in 1910 as a store and residence. The restaurant entered the scene in 1948, opening grandly with a military wedding celebration.
