Antico Spedale del Bigallo

Antico Spedale del Bigallo is a captivating historic venue in Bagno A Ripoli, Italy, originally built in the 1200s to welcome pilgrims. Meticulously restored with respect for its heritage, the site is now a sought-after location for wedding banquets, where couples can choose to celebrate their wedding with either a civil or religious ceremony. Options for the ceremony include the grand ceremony hall, the beautifully frescoed chapel, or the garden, which enjoys breathtaking panoramic views over Florence.

The venue provides a range of indoor and outdoor spaces. The ancient refectory, recently restored, serves as an elegant reception hall for 100 to 130 guests, showcasing its original medieval terracotta flooring and a decorated coffered ceiling. Adjoining the hall is the impressive original medieval kitchen, complete with a striking fireplace, ideal for smaller gatherings of up to 30 people, often used for welcome drinks or buffet receptions. Outdoor celebrations can be arranged in the courtyard, the colourful medieval vegetable garden, or on the terrace, each offering scenic vistas of Florence.

Recently restored, the chapel is available for religious or civil ceremonies. The venue can provide in-house catering or accommodate external caterers. Decoration options range from classic floral arrangements to atmospheric period themes—medieval or Renaissance—or lighter summer settings. On-site accommodation is offered in comfortable rooms and dormitories, with parking available for up to 50 cars. Antico Spedale del Bigallo also hosts seminars, courses, conferences, and private events.
