What counts as a "late licence"?

In the wedding industry, anything past midnight is generally considered late. Many standard venues finish at 11pm or midnight. A true late licence means 1am or later, with some exclusive-use venues offering 2am or no curfew.

Why do finishing times matter?

Your evening reception is when the real party happens. If music stops at 11pm, you may only get 3-4 hours of dancing after the wedding breakfast. A 1-2am finish gives your guests a proper celebration and ensures the dance floor peaks.

Do late licences cost extra?

Some venues include their late licence in the hire fee. Others charge £200-£500 for extended hours, particularly if additional staffing is required. Always ask what the standard finish time is and what extensions are available.

What about noise complaints?

Venues with late licences have typically already resolved noise issues with their planning conditions -- they may have sound limiters, specific room orientations, or isolation measures. Venues in rural or isolated locations tend to have the most flexibility.
