The Story
For a small, modest and elegant wedding, the Merley House is a highly recommended venue.
Merley House is a stunning three-storey manor set on a prestigious estate near Wimborne, built in 1751 by Ralph Willett. The elegant property draws inspiration from Greek architecture, with Portland stone façades, ionic pillars, and three balconies gracing its north side. A walled garden and Orangery—once home to exotic birds—complete this timeless setting.
The venue offers several versatile rooms for ceremonies and celebrations. The Drawing Room and Dining Parlour are intimate spaces featuring intricate ceilings and cosy fireplaces, ideal for receptions and buffets. The Old Library, the largest room, accommodates wedding breakfasts, dancing and live entertainment. The Old Nursery serves as a bridal suite and storage facility.
Capacity ranges from 80 guests for seated meals to 100 for ceremonies and 150 for evening parties, with flexibility available upon request. Merley House provides dedicated wedding planners and customisable packages covering flowers, decorations, catering, photography, car hire, entertainment and local accommodation recommendations.
