Bracken Tor House

Bracken Tor House, set on the edge of Dartmoor above Okehampton, traces its origins back to 1908 and showcases the distinctive Arts and Crafts style, with many original features still in place. The main living room boasts authentic oak panelling and double aspect corner windows, lending a unique character to the space. A lovingly restored fireplace with its original brickwork and an antique wood burning stove creates a cosy lounge atmosphere, particularly inviting in winter months.

The venue sits within 4 acres of landscaped grounds and offers two spaces licensed for civil marriage ceremonies. The newly built function room provides scenic views over North Devon and can accommodate between 80 to 120 guests, while a beautifully ornate gazebo in the gardens adds a romantic touch. The venue offers comprehensive support, from full-day scheduling down to the detailing of table decorations and seating plans. Licensed for music with no nearby residents, Bracken Tor House also connects couples with local entertainers experienced at the venue.

For dining, the function room allows for catering from finger buffets up to carvery style meals for 80 guests, with options like hog roasts, jacket potatoes, or BBQ for up to 150 guests. A bar service is provided, highlighting local wines, beers, and ciders. Accommodation is available on-site in 15 budget-style bedrooms, with a campsite and campfire area. Additional lodging can be found within a five-minute drive. For those seeking a full weekend experience, a range of outdoor activities such as high ropes, rock climbing, gorge scrambling, and water sports are also available.
